STATA MODULE FOR OBTAINING SIMULATED QUANTITIES OF INTEREST AFTER ESTIMATION

Software - SimPred

simpost assists to the user to compute point estimates and associated measures of uncertainty for (possible intractable) functions of parameters estimates through Monte Carlo procedures: Bootstrap sampling and Simulation - postestimation.

Specifically, simpost converts simulated parameters estimates recorded by bootstrap or simpost into expected values, fitted probabilities, and predicted values, following the algorithms developed by Herron (1999) and King et al. (2000).

Quantities computed by simpost can be further tranformed by the user into other functions that are difficult to tackle through analytical methods.  The main appeal of this approach is that point estimates and measures of uncertainty of those functions can be assessed easily through descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode, variance, standard deviation, centile-based confidence intervals bounds, etc.), without need of extensive statistical training or previous programming experience (see King et al., 2000).
